Railway was first introduced to India in the year 1853 from Bombay to Thane. In 1951 the operations were nationalised as one system. The Indian Railways becoming one of the largest networks in the world. Indian Railways operates both long distance and Suburban rail system on a multi-gauge network of the board, meter and narrow gauges. It also owns locomotive and coach production facilities at several places in India, with detailed codes identifying their gauge, kind of power and type of operation.
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)
Railway Recruitment Control Board is a government body in India. It was set up in 1998 in the Ministry of Railways, New Delhi. It has been operational since then with the mission to formulate of policy in regard to recruitment procedures, monitor the actions of all Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) including expense acquired for recruitment, evaluate the production of RRB’s and advice them on priorities as required, organize a management information system for monitoring.
